It’s always better to have positive attitude towards life. When we stay positive, we get more new opportunities and new hopes. You can’t find true happiness and success without it. But everything has a limit. Having positive attitude doesn’t give you freedom to discard possible negative outcomes. Having too much optimism is also as bad as having none.
But why this happens?
Its human tendency to defend what we like or want to believe, and some time we go little overboard with it.
In other words, sometimes your brain actively deletes any alternative because it wants to confirm that whatever you believe in is true.
For example, from last 2 years I used to believe that I couldn’t afford to buy new car. It’s not that I didn’t have money, but the car I wanted was out of my budget.
At that time, to me all the other cars weren’t feeling as good as my dream one, so I wasn’t ready to compromise on that one.
This belief was truth to me and I argued to defend it.
But soon my old car started its final dead walk and things started to get worst for me. I started to feels that, I am actually defending something that making me feel trapped and anxious.
So one day I got fade up and went to by a new car (one that I could afford). That decision took me to new reality. In this reality new opportunities opened for me and now I have a brand new car. Sure it’s not the one I truly wanted, but still it’s not as bad as I thought earlier.
Sometimes New hopes are over rated so we have to think practically.
For every problem people always looks for unrealistic perfect solutions. But in this world, there is no such thing as perfect solution. You took decent solution and make it perfect over time.
For example, how many people have said they will never ever find right person only to realize the person they were looking for was right in front of them all along?
Always stay positive with the concrete logical explanation behind it.
In our life race sometimes it’s better to come second than none.
So always hope for the best, but at the same time prepare for the worst.
